With the following 3 steps you can save your youtube and flash videos
Step-1. Open Mozilla or any of your web browser and open web page with the video that you would like to download. Wait until the video loads completely. Eg: YouTube, you can see a lighter red indicator bar reached the right end side.
Step-2. Open /tmp folder (Places-->Computer-->Filesystem-->tmp). Here you can see the flash video that you have just downloaded. The name of the downloaded video file has the word "Flash" on it.
Step-3. Rename the video file with a .flv extension and save it to any folder you like.

Thanks for posting the "easy trick", I've done this before, it had just been such a long time it had slipped my mind. This truly is one of the quickest and simplest ways.

Does it work with videos that don't seem to pre-load?
this isn't true anymore :( where are they stored? no flash video file in /tmp. used to be that way
Yes, I've noticed the same thing. No flash file.
Maybe this "feature" has been removed due to some property rights?? Some Ubuntu patch did it or some firefox patch.
Is there anyone who has not update firefox and Ubutu for a while? :)
I wrote a script that extracts the flash from the firefox cache, for a lot of people the flash is no longer in the /tmp directory so I hope it's useful:
